Man Utd vs Leicester preview
It’s a case of déjà vu as Manchester United host Leicester at Old Trafford for the third time this season.
It’s actually the third time in exactly 100 days.
When the pair first met Manchester United were anchored in 14th position following defeat in the Premier League and Leicester City sat in 15th – five points above the relegation zone.
Not a huge amount has changed in the months thereafter, although Ruud Van Nistelrooy has swapped dugouts.
United won 5-2 in the Carabao Cup in October and 3-0 in the Premier League in November to bookend Van Nistelrooy’s brief tenure as caretaker manager at Old Trafford.
But his chances of another successful result in this encounter look slim given Leicester’s form.
The Foxes have lost eight of their 12 games under the Dutchman, conceding 28 goals and failing to keep a single clean sheet.
The 48-year-old is now favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked following Saturday’s disastrous 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park – a game in which they conceded after just 10.18 seconds.
Leicester have, however, progressed from seven of their last eight FA Cup fourth round ties but team selection will be interesting with avoiding relegation their primary focus.
As for Manchester United, they continue to frustrate.
After a positive run of three successive victories in all competitions, they succumbed to a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.
Manager Ruben Amorim will want a reaction from his players and could dearly do with a positive result having picked up just 14 points from 13 Premier League games. Deadline day recruit Patrick Dorgu is likely to feature at some point.

Slow burn
This could be quite a lacklustre affair between two sides struggling for confidence and goals. Both Ruben Amorim and Ruud Van Nistelrooy are likely make plenty of changes to keep their squads fresh, and perhaps experiment heading into the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.
As mentioned, United’s goalscoring capabilities have been under the microscope having netted just 28 goals in 24 Premier League matches this season – only Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton and Everton average less. United have also, incredibly, failed to score from open play in ANY of their last 14 games in all competitions, while it’s been 16 matches since this team led after 45 minutes.
