Sail on the main only?

Has anyone had experience sailing the 14 only on the main? I tried several ways to search thr forum about this but was unable to configure a search term that would work. It might be a good way for me to gain exerience with the boat prior to trying to manage both the main and the jib. I think it could allow me to get a sense of how quickly the boat would respond to various movements and wind situations.
