The competition kicked off with a team social on January 20 at the Kindersley Inn, bringing players, sponsors, and organizers together. Representatives from Viterra, SaskTel, the host committee, and CURLSASK’s Executive Director spoke at the event. This was a great way for players to socialize with each other, host committee and sponsors before the event began.

The competition was a nine-team round robin with 4 teams advancing to the playoffs. After the playoffs, here were the standings:

Team Record
Team Laycock 7-1
Team Kalthoff 6-2
Team Kleiter 5-3
Team Knapp 5-3
Team Derksen 4-4
Team Thomas 3-5
Team Jacobson 3-5
Team Ede 2-6
Team Moser 1-7

Playoff Recap:

  • 1 vs 2 Game: Team Laycock (7-1) faced Team Kalthoff (6-2), with Laycock securing a close 9-8 victory and advancing directly to the final.
  • 3 vs 4 Game: Team Kleiter (5-3) defeated Team Knapp (5-3) 8-6, moving on to the semi-final.

At 3:00pm, it was a rematch of the 1 vs 2 game with Team Campbell taking on Team Martin. This time, Team Martin took home the title of Team Saskatchewan with a 9-7 victory! The third time was the charm for Nancy Martin as she has lost the last 2 provincial finals in Estevan and Tisdale.
