'Trump drops this!' President roasted after controversial post minutes before RFK vote

0

President Donald Trump made one last push on his Truth Social platform ahead of the Senate committee vote that advanced anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to the full Senate for a vote to be Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"20 years ago, Autism in children was 1 in 10,000. NOW IT’S 1 in 34. WOW! Something’s really wrong. We need BOBBY!!! Thank You! DJT," wrote Trump — a reference to the long-debunked idea of a link betwen autism and vaccines.

Commenters on social media lost no time in dismantling Trump's remarks.

"Trump truth minutes before RFK JR's Senate committee confirmation vote," wrote CNN White House reporter Alayna Treene. "To be clear, there is no link between vaccines and autism. The notion of a link between the two has been thoroughly disproven."

"RFK Jr. is the last person we need," wrote liberal influencer Art Candee.

"Trump isn't a Doctor and neither is RFK Jr. Autism is NOT Significantly on the rise — diagnoses are," wrote podcaster Brian Krassenstein. "Conspiracy theorists claim autism is 'skyrocketing.' The truth? We're just identifying it better."

"Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) last week basically pleaded with RFK Jr. to disown his false links of vaccines and autism," wrote Washington Post political reporter Aaron Blake. "Cassidy pitched it as important to restoring faith in vaccines. Now, just before Cassidy casts a hugely important vote on RFK, Trump drops this."

Cassidy, a physician, went on to vote to advance Kennedy .

"Everyone knows RFK Jr. is where he is today because he refused to acknowledge the errors in the Wakefield study, and all this MAHA [Make America Healthy Again] stuff is just retrofitted onto that to make conventional Rs feel better about their recklessness," wrote conservative National Review analyst Noah Rothman.
