Troye Sivan Reveals His 'Biggest Fear' About Aging, Talks Bond With Charli xcx

Troye Sivan opened up about his “biggest fear” related to aging ahead of his 30th birthday this year, his relationship with fame and friendship with Charli xcx.

The 29-year-old “One of Your Girls” pop star celebrates his milestone birthday in June. In a recent interview, he revealed that he had a “meltdown” about the big day around the age of 27.

Troye explained what he feared and why his perception on aging changed.

On the topic of fame, he pointed out a parallel between fame in 2025 and when he was first starting his career.

“I feel, like, at 27, I had a meltdown about turning 30,” he admitted to Vogue Australia. “I think, for me, one of the biggest fears was not feeling sexy, and I feel, humbly, sexier than ever. Not even in looks or anything like that. Just, I feel good about knowing who I am and my life and where it’s at. Knowing what’s important to me and the things I care about. That, I think, ended up soothing me, and now I’m really excited about it.”

Speaking about fame, Troye noted similarities between now and the YouTube era of the early ’10s that birthed his career.

“I think what is being celebrated at the moment is the cult of personality and ‘niche’,” he explained. “That feels very familiar and comfortable to me, because I grew up on YouTube. That, literally, was how I got started—[by] letting people know who I am.”

Troye recently wrapped up his Sweat Tour with Charli. They’ve also spent a lot of time in the studio together working on duets over the years and will be together at the 2025 Grammys this weekend.

“She operates from such a thoughtful place in her art and is simultaneously a very, very real person, she’s everything that I think is cool in the world. I mean this as a compliment: she’s so, sort of, unpolished in a completely intentional way. It’s not at all [fake]. She’s just real. And that is so much cooler to me, and so much more inspiring to me, than the alternative,” he said of the Brat superstar.
