Here’s What Food Will Be Served at Super Bowl LIX

0

Super Bowl LIX, which is taking place on Sunday, Feb 9, will see a rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, after the two teams last faced off in 2023. And suffice to say, those lucky enough to be attending the game at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans will be eating well

The menu at concessions stands and luxury suites will reflect the vibrant cuisine the Big Easy is known for, all the while being tailored to football fans. According to People, the Super Bowl menus will be curated by Sodexo Live!. The culinary and hospitality company, which partners with venues and events, has worked to create "a sprawling menu featuring Louisiana favorites mixed with game-day classics."

Among some of the specialty sandwiches that will be served up at concessions include three different types of po’ boy sandwiches, alligator sausage, lobster karaage, Cajun beef brisket, and "a vegetarian twist" on Vietnamese bánh mì. There will also be New Orleans-themed menu items like jambalaya alongside traditional stadium fare including hot dogs, pretzels, and nachos.

Sodexo Live! national executive chef Carmen Callo and his team are getting ready to feed the 62,000 fans on game day with 5,000 alligator sausages, 6,500 pounds of shrimp, 12,000 oysters, and over 50,000 baguettes from the local Leidenheimer Baking Co. The team has ordered thousands of ingredients, with about 40 percent coming from local suppliers.

Callo is hyping up a surf n’ turf po' boy as being a standout dish. The sandwich features five colossal gulf shrimp and nine-hour smoked short rib—as a clever nod to the 59th Super Bowl—finished off with mornay and remoulade sauces, lettuce, and tomato on Leidenheimer bread.

Meanwhile, the suites, which reportedly cost upwards of $2 million, will boast gourmet offerings including sushi, seafood towers, and pricey tomahawk steaks with the Super Bowl LIX logo branded right onto the bone. Callo says that the steaks, in particular, will "make for a great photo op and delicious meal!"

For those looking to knock back a few, in addition to the usual game day beers there will be signature cocktails such as a loaded spicy Bloody Mary that comes garnished with everything but the kitchen sink, including olives, pepperoncini, spicy green beans, celery, cheese, bacon, and spicy okra. Another vodka-based cocktail, the Black Magic, features lime juice, jalapeño syrup, and mango purée with a dehydrated lime wheel and black magic cajun seasoning.

"We want to bring to life the city, but also need to remember it’s a football game," Callo explained of designing the menu. "It’s about marrying the cajun, the creole, the French, the southern … a global melting pot that makes New Orleans so special."
