Demand for cash assistance reaches record levels in NYC: DSS

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- With affordable housing and homelessness at the forefront of New York City politics, Social Services Commissioner Molly Wasow Park discussed the city's administration of crucial assistance over the past year.

In the last year, demand reached record levels for cash assistance and SNAP Benefits, Park said.

But the city has been working hard to help New Yorkers get the resources they need, she said. Some 15,000 families and individuals moved out of shelters and into subsidized housing, many of which used CityFHEPS vouchers, Park said.
