'More chaos and confusion': Dem senators slam White House for new communications blunder
The Trump White House on Wednesday once again created mass confusion when it seemed to rescind — and then un-rescind — its executive order freezing federal grants and loans.
In one line, the Office of Management and Budget stated Wednesday: "OMB Memorandum M-25-13 is rescinded."
However, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt came out shortly afterward to insist that the freeze was still in effect.
"This is NOT A rescission of the federal funding freeze," Leavitt insisted in a post on X. "It is simply a rescission of the OMG memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court's injunction. The President's EO's on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented."

This drew confused reactions from two Democratic senators.
"More chaos and more confusion from the Trump administration," wrote Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) on BlueSky. "They’re doubling down on cutting programs for our children, elderly, and veterans. We won’t let them."
"Thanks. That clarifies nothing," wrote Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN).
The earlier Trump order caused mass chaos on Tuesday when Medicaid portals shut down in all 50 states. The order was halted when a federal judge blocked it from being implemented until at least next week.
