The Europa League’s inaugural league phase concludes on Thursday in what’s expected to be a chaotic night of action across Europe.

All 18 games will be played at the same time with Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United in a good position to secure automatic qualification.

And automatic qualification would be hugely helpful to the Red Devils given it would see them avoid playing two extra games in February’s play-offs.

United’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Rangers saw them move up to fourth in the league table with 15 points, meaning victory against FCSB on Thursday will cement a top-eight finish.

A draw might be enough depending on results elsewhere, but Amorim’s side won’t be taking any chances and should field a full-strength starting XI to get the job done in Romania.

And they should enter this encounter with their tails up having beaten Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester United have also won five of their six meetings with Romanian sides in all competitions, while they’ve not lost any of their last six away Europa League group stage matches.

Though it won’t exactly be a walk in the park.

As mentioned, FCSB have lost just three of their last 22 home group stage matches in the Europa League. They also beaten the likes of Midtjylland and Qarabag while securing goalless draws against Olympiacos and Hoffenheim.
