Seasonal temperatures continue to warm

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A recent study of seasonal temperatures from the climatologists and meteorologists at Climate Central revealed that summer, fall, winter, and spring temperatures are getting warmer.

Climate Central Meteorologist Shel Winkley said the study looked at 245 cities in the United States to glean this information.

A snapshot of seasons getting warmer across the country

What's surprising, or maybe it isn't, is that in much of the eastern half of the country, it's the winter season that is seeing the most warming. It's scattered, however, in the western half of the country.

The three cities in Alaska (Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau), and Honolulu, Hawaii also had more winters warming faster than the other three seasons.

Summers lead the fastest warming seasons in Austin

Austin's fastest-warming season of the four is summer by an average of more than four degrees. Winter was second of the seasonal list at a little over four.

The goal of analyzing temperature trends since 1970 is to determine the warming over time and in each specific area, along with the speed of those rises.

The bigger aspect of the study was to learn the effect of the warming on matters that include the agriculture growing season and our health, among other factors.
