Spanish, soul food buffet opening in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Alexandra Reyes, the owner of Sabor a Campo in downtown Albany, is opening another restaurant in the Troy area. Express Buffet, which has a Troy address but is located within the town of Brunswick, is opening in the former Viejo San Juan space on Hoosick Road, across from Ted's Fish Fry.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Reyes and her sister Liliana opened Sabor a Campo in December 2022. In late 2019, they opened Adani’s Kitchen on Lark Street in Albany before having to close due to the lease not being renewed.

Reyes told NEWS10 it's called Express Buffet because the location is tiny and has limited seating. The spot will mainly be for customers to take their meals to go. She said Sabor a Campo has been very popular since she opened, and that's how she's been able to open a second eatery.

According to the Express Buffet website, this will be the Troy area's only authentic Spanish, Soul and American buffet-style restaurant. The all-you-can-eat buffet menu includes empanadas, plantains, salads, curry and stew chicken, oxtails, mac and cheese, collard greens, rice, and more.

The non-buffet menu includes grilled salmon, mofongo, and chicken, beef, and pork dishes. You can view both menus on the Express Buffet Facebook page.

Express Buffet is set to have its grand opening on February 1 and 2. The restaurant will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
