Police Make Arrest After Car Drives Through Crowd of Eagles Fans

The driver who allegedly struck multiple pedestrians following Sunday’s Eagles win in Philadelphia has been apprehended, authorities said on Monday (via Bleacher Report).

Three people suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” when a car drove into a crowd of people who were celebrating the Eagles’ win at the NFC Championship. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time.

Witnesses who gave accounts to NBC 10 had differing memories of the chaos. One person estimated the car hit 10 people, while another thought the number was closer to 30. That latter witness also claimed the driver was a female who was seen "arguing with some people" nearby before the crash, but those reports have not been corroborated. It's unclear if the driver was a male or female, but all who were at the scene agreed the car came out of nowhere.

“Everybody dancing, getting alongNext thing you know a car coming down and it’s speeding," one witness recalled.

On Monday morning, the Philadelphia Police Department announced that a suspect had been arrested, though they did not disclose their name. Authorities say the tragic incident “does not seem intentional at this time.”

Following the crash, police found a silver Mercedes with clear signs of damage abandoned in an adjacent neighborhood. At that time, the person found inside the vehicle was placed in custody for further questioning.

The Eagles beat the Washington Commanders on Sunday night 52–23, cementing their trip to next month’s Super Bowl where they’ll battle the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s a rematch of Philly’s face off against the Commanders from two Super Bowls ago, when the Chiefs took home to victory after a winning play from Harrison Butker.
