'Duck Dynasty' Star Hospitalized Following Hunting Accident

0

Duck Dynasty star Silas Merritt Robertson is recovering after suffering a nasty fall off a boat during a recent hunting trip in Arkansas.

Fans became concerned when Robertson, who also goes by the nickname "Uncle Si," failed to appear on the latest episode of his Duck Call Room podcast, which he hosts alongside former cast members Justin Martin, John-David Owen, John Godwin, Jay Stone, and Phillip McMillan. As it turns out, the 76-year-old landed himself in the hospital for three days due to his injuries.

The incident occurred after a relaxing morning out on the boat, when the group had docked and were getting ready to eat breakfast.

"So we get back to the boat house, I guess Si had gotten a little cold or something on the boat," Martin, who had been on the trip with Robertson, explained. "I don't know, but anyway, typical Silas Robertson, in a big dang hurry to get out of the boat and into the Polaris, he fell. He fell trying to get out of the boat, on the bank there."

"It's steep there, if you don't go off the nose of the boat, like the very nose, you will fall," he continued. "He went to take a long step instead of waiting for us to move the decoys and the shotguns … A BDH, a Big Dang Hurry, and he fell."

"And when he fell, he fell on his oxygen machine—you know how he wears it like a bandolier—so he lands like that, but he bounced right back up," Martin recalled. "I think he didn't want anybody to see that he fell, except the problem is you're covered in mud now, like, we know you fell."

Perhaps due to his embarrassment with the situation, Robertson initially assured everyone that he was fine. However, his friends became concerned when he had to be coaxed to head inside for breakfast. As the day went on, they also noticed that he was uncharacteristically quiet.

The day after they returned home from the trip, Robertson finally admitted himself to the emergency room. There, it was discovered that his oxygen levels were low, which was later determined to have been from suffering panic attacks over the stress from the fall. An X-ray likewise found that he had sustained bruised ribs.

All things considered, his injuries could have been way worse. But because nothing else was seriously wrong with him, Robertson was prescribed medication and discharged to recover at home.

The timing of the accident coincides with the announcement of a revival seriesDuck Dynasty: The Revival, set to premiere on A&E in summer 2025. Though Robertson is set to participate in the new series, it will primarily center around Korie and Willie Robertson and some of the younger members of the extended family, some of whom were teenagers when the show went off the air in 2017 and now have families of their own.
