Billy Ray Cyrus Speaks Out After Family Drama Goes Public

0

Billy Ray Cyrus' seemingly fraught relationships with some of his children have been on full display in the past week after his performance at this year's presidential inauguration festivities. Now, after his son claimed he allegedly could be facing legal action for publicly addressing his dad, the "Achy Breaky Heart" crooner shared some honest thoughts on the whole situation.

On Jan. 27, Billy Ray shared a YouTube Short of his 2008 song "Somebody Said a Prayer" and hinted at what's transpired in the past week in the post's caption. "Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children… sons and daughters…and their mother," he said. "Let this moment be the start of healing for us all."

The latest message comes days after his son Trace issued a public call for his father to seek help after he appeared to stumble through his inauguration performance plagued with technical difficulties. "Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now," he said. "We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew and hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy, Dad, and everyone is noticing it."

After Trace's statement, Billy Ray announced he's working on an album with his other son Braison. Shortly thereafter, Trace took to Instagram and claimed that he was being subjected to legal proceedings as a result of his public plea to his father.

"I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don't want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace," he wrote. "You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I'm not. Get help."

Whether or not the Cyrus family becomes embroiled in legal drama remains to be seen.
