Bills Pass-Catcher Had Gutting Reaction After Killer Drop Vs. Chiefs

Dalton Kincaid admirably faced the music after the music stopped.

The Bills tight end was responsible for a game-altering drop against the Chiefs, which ultimately helped Kansas City earn a 32-29 victory in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night.

“I mean, it’s football,” Kincaid told reporters at Arrowhead Stadium, per WKBW-TV’s Matthew Bove. “Josh (Allen) made a hell of an attempt just to get the ball up there. It just sucks a lot not being able to bring it down.

“It just hurts a lot. Obviously, just knowing we don’t get to play another game as this team didn’t make it to the next step, it just hurts a lot.”

Facing a fourth-and-5 with two minutes remaining, Allen rolled to his right and unleashed a deep ball with Chiefs defenders in his face. Allen’s pass, which initially looked like a long-shot heave, went through Kincaid’s arms and he dove back for the football.

It was a difficult catch but a play that should’ve been made.

A catch by Kincaid not only would’ve moved the chains but put Buffalo on the edge of field goal range. At the time, the Bills trailed by three points with less than two minutes remaining.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott and others backed Kincaid after the loss. The single play isn’t why Buffalo lost, they said.

The Chiefs advance to play the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
