Girl, 14, told teacher ‘I’m going to kill you’ before stabbing spree at school
A 14-year-old girl allegedly attacked her teacher with a knife after being confronted for wearing non-uniform trousers.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly yelled ‘I’m going to f***ing kill you’ as she lunged for assistant head teacher Fiona Elias.
She is accused of then also stabbing another teacher, Liz Hopkin, as well as a student at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman – also known as Amman Valley School – in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire
The 14-year-old has admitted wounding with intent but denied attempted murder.
Described by Mrs Elias as ‘a bit immature in class’, the girl was subject to daily bag searches by her father after Mrs Elias previously found a knife in her possession, leading the her suspension.
But on April 24, 2024, the girl had left home before her father had checked.
After arriving at school, Mrs Elias confronted the girl about her uniform, Swansea Crown Court head.
CCTV showed the girl stood outside the lower school hall talking to her and Ms Hopkin.
William Hughes KC, prosecuting, told the court: ‘Mrs Elias asked about her trousers which were not school uniform.
‘There was an exchange between them about contacting her father, which she did not want.
‘Mrs Elias then said she wasn’t happy with the way (the girl) was looking at her and asked what she had in her pocket.
‘She said, “do you want to see”, and pulled out an item with a silver blade.
‘On pulling out the knife, she said to Mrs Elias “I am going to kill you, I am going to f***ing kill you”, and then she started to stab her.’
Ms Hopkin restrained the girl, who dropped the knife, while Mrs Elias fled.
But the teenager broke free, retrieving the knife and stabbing Ms Hopkin, leaving her with injuries to her back, neck, legs and arm.
Footage of the attack showed push past two male teachers who tried to calm her down before she ran at another pupil. She was eventually restrained by staff.
In the back of a police vehicle, the girl allegedly told officers ‘I stabbed her – oopsies’, as well as asking ‘are they dead’ and ‘how am I going to face my family after what I’ve done?’
She also allegedly said: ‘I’m pretty sure this is going to be on the news, so more eyes will be looking at me. That’s one way to be a celebrity.’
At her home, officers found notes and drawings referencing Mrs Elias and the girl she attacked, Mr Hughes told the court.
One note said the girl will ‘burn’. Another said ‘cut their mouths and eyes’. A drawing was labelled ‘Mrs Frogface Elias’.
Mr Hughes said: ‘She does not dispute that she is responsible for stabbing Fiona Elias, Liz Hopkin and (her fellow pupil).
‘She does not deny she took her father’s multi-tool to Dyffryn Aman and used the blade to stab each member of staff and her fellow pupil.
‘She does dispute she did so intending to kill one, two or all three of them.’
The trial continues.
This is the second time this case has been heard. The previous trial collapsed.
