GOP calls summit as it's 'already running behind' on Trump agenda: report
Republicans in Congress are still trying to hash out how they'll pass President Donald Trump's ambitious agenda and Politico reports that the party is "already running behind."
The GOP is meeting at Trump's resort in Doral, Florida this week to nail down what will be included in a massive budget reconciliation package that will likely include extending tax cuts passed in 2017, as well as potentially taking a hatchet to programs such as Medicaid that deliver health insurance to low-income Americans.
"We need to have a sense of urgency with the debt ceiling coming," Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) told Politico.

That said, sources tell Politico that many Republicans were initially so skeptical that the retreat would yield any progress that they had planned to skip attending to go on official trips to Africa.
Also, Politico notes that such retreats are not guaranteed to produce positive results as the GOP found out back in 2017 when it held a similar retreat to strategize about repealing the Affordable Care Act.
The party's efforts to pass that legislation would crash and burn several months later when ACA repeal got shot down in the United States Senate.
