'Lose their mind': Trump gloats after perceived victory over Colombia president
President Donald Trump gloated late Sunday over his perceived victory in a clash with Colombia’s president, sharing a social media post that claimed the spat had caused the South American leader to “lose his mind.”
The post came after a day-long argument over the repatriation of immigrants Trump wants to deport from the U.S.
“The U.S. cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro had said, claiming he would turn away flights trying to repatriate immigrants and urging America to “establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them.”
Heated threats of trade wars followed, before Petro finally backed down after “high level” talks between the two governments.
The decision was treated as a victory by Trump’s camp, with his spokesperson Karoline Leavitt saying, “President Trump will continue to fiercely protect our nation’s sovereignty, and he expects all other nations of the world to fully cooperate in accepting the deportation of their citizens illegally present in the United States.”
And then Trump took to Truth Social.
The president shared an X post praising how he handles world leaders in his perceived fights.
“I think Trump’s greatest superpower might be his absolutely insane ability to make everyone he has a fight with lose their mind,” the post claimed.
“The Colombian president was just the latest person to fall victim to that, but he wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.”
