Big Setback to Indian side: Star opener’s participation for 2nd T20I v England in Jeopardy because of Twisted ankle

0

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma might miss the opening second T20I against England in Chennai. According to a report, Abhishek twisted his ankle during warm-up on Friday. He was given physio treatment, but he did not play along with his teammates.

Indian team might be in for a big trouble if Abhishek Sharma is not fit to play. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are the only two openers in the squad, and if Abhishek gets sat down, Suryakumar-led side will be in need of a replacement opener.

Abhishek Sharma was in the first T20I, where he came and batted explosively, scoring 79 runs in 34 balls, and helped India chase down their target to get a lead of 1-0 over England. Before that, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy had caused disaster as they bowled out England at 132.

Meanwhile, the report also revealed that Shami bowled at full power in warm-ups. Shami was not in the playing XI for the first match. There were rumours that he might not be fit, but the warm-up sessions dismissed all those rumours. Not taking Shami to play might be a strategy for India, as the conditions were in favour of spinners in the 1st T20I.

The same scenario might happen in the second game as Chennai pitch also favours spinners. Not taking Shami will also ass in for the fact that he will stay fresh for the ODI series, along with the highly-hyped Champions Trophy.
