No Hijab, no veil…: Former Pak captain Inzamam-ul-Haq’s son weds ‘modern’ girl, fundamentalists in Pakistan get…
Its no secret that women in Pakistan face crippling restrictions, especially in the way they are ‘supposed to’ dress, with even the country’s celebrities following this rigid code, at least in public, to avoid inviting the wrath of Pakistan’s majoritarian fundamentalists. Even renowned figures like former pacer Shoaib Akhtar have never shared any pictures of their spouses, while Pakistani cricketers have often been accused of forcing players belonging to other communities to follow Islamic rules in the dressing room.
Former Pakistan captain and star batter Inzamam-ul-Haq, famously started following a staunchly Islamic life in the twilight of his career, which became more pronounced after his retirement. However, Inzamam’s son, Ibtesam ul Haq, recently got married to a relatively “modern” girl.
The young bride, draped in a elegant white lehenga, did not sport a hijab or a veil in the pictures shared by the family on social media platforms. According to reports, Ibtesam’s tied the knot in a private nikah ceremony attended only by a select group of friends and family members in Lahore.
In visuals of the special occasion shared by the family on Instagram, the bride and groom are seen draped in elegant white outfits. However, the bride is not wearing a veil or a hijab, something which could potentially trigger Pakistan’s fundamentalist masses, to see that the family of one of their beloved public figures is not following the “Islamic way”.
