WWE tag team 'Pretty Deadly' feeling 'good, bubbly, energetic' for Friday Night SmackDown
AUSTIN (KXAN) — "YES BOY!"
That's the energy Kit Wilson and Elton Prince, the faces behind pro-wrestling duo "Pretty Deadly," are bringing to the Moody Center Friday night.
They're competing in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Friday Night SmackDown. They visited KXAN Friday morning to talk about their upcoming match. They even helped with the seven-day forecast.
Wilson and Prince said they feel "good, bubbly, and energetic," ahead of the match, but they are aiming to prove themselves as the "OGs" against SmackDown newcomers Motor City Machine Guns, a Detroit-based tag team of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, who have been an on-and-off team since 2006.
The Motor City Machine Guns just made their WWE debut in October and have quickly climbed in rankings. But the pair has been successful in the wrestling world throughout their nearly two decades of tenure and are best known for their time in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Pretty Deadly have been working their way through the WWE's rankings since 2020, claiming a few NXT and NXT UK championships along the way, according to the SmackDown Hotel's pro-wrestlers database.
"The come-up is everything you dream, you know, you work hard within the systems and within the rankings of the WWE NXT, kind of being one of those starter brands, a great show, a fantastic thing. You know, it's full of these up-and-comers," Wilson said. "But now... we were once these up-and-comers, and we've, we've made it. We're here. We're on Friday Night SmackDown. In the Moody Center. I feel good, I feel bubbly, I feel energetic. It's exciting, much like the WWE itself. You know, it's a lot going on. It's big."
The pair doesn't take well to MCMG's fast uprising in the WWE, however.
"Well, you know, it's very upsetting when you spend a long time trying to climb the ranks of something, and then in come these new guys who have been there two seconds, and they want to just take, take, take, take, take, yeah, and I won't stand for it," Prince said.
"So that's what we're going to do tonight, is we're going to make sure the new kids on the block, they know that we're the ones. We're the OGs technically. Now, aren't we? That's how long we've been there. Motor City, we're coming for you."
Pretty Deadly and the Motor City Machine Guns will face off at 7 p.m.
