Germantown man killed in Red Hook car crash
RED HOOK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Red Hook Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that took place on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened around 3:55 p.m. on State Route 9G, just south of Peach Tree Court.
The initial investigation determined that a 2013 Hyundai heading north on 9G reportedly crossed over the road's double yellow lines, resulting in a head-on collision with a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling southbound. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 68-year-old William Dougher of Germantown, was removed from his car using hydraulic rescue tools (jaws-of-life) before being transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. State Route 9G was closed for nearly three hours while the area was assessed.
New York State Police, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and the Tivoli Fire Company assisted Red Hook Police on the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
