Love Island star heartbroken as beloved family member dies
LOVE Island star Jake Cornish has been left heartbroken following the death of his nan.
The 27-year-old – who has appeared on the dating show twice – shared the news with fans today alongside a picture of them.
He wrote beside it: “Heaven has gained another angel. RIP Nan.”
Jake’s upset comes a year after he last appeared on telly when he returned to Love Island for All Stars.
But his time on the show was very short lived – and he decided to leave after just three days when he learnt that the public had coupled him up with his ex Liberty Poole.
Jake and Liberty met during series seven of Love Island, but their romance came crashing down just days before the final.
After leaving the villa for the second time, Jake hit out that Liberty seemed “sour” and “bitter”, suggesting she tried to cast him as the villain.
He explained: “I felt like it was a bit sour. Like, ‘Oh here he is. Let’s go at him again.’
“In reality I’ve grown up, I’ve matured in two years.
“So when it was them faces, and the comments of like ‘he gives me the ick’, I took on the chin, I’m not going to cry about it.
“Whereas obviously the conversation we had, she said, ‘I feel like you’re ignoring me’ – it was just the way she come into the conversation, was just a bit bitter.”
Since the show Jake has branched out into acting and appeared in his first movie last year.
He starred in Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire, alongside household names like Maisie Smith, John Hannah and Linda Robson.
Speaking about the future and his decision to leave All Stars when he did, Jake previously told us: “It was a big thing for me to go back in [Love Island],”
“They approached me and it was another opportunity to kind of show people the real me because I was young the first time and it was a lot different.
“Now I’m older and have businesses. I’ve grown up. I’ve done acting. It was kind of going in there with open arms and showing who I am, and then, when I knew it wasn’t right for me, that’s when I said, ‘look, I can’t be here. I can’t do these force kind of conversations’. I felt like I’d just grown up.
“Obviously, I’m always gonna be known as Jake from Love Island. But now I wanna be known as Jake the actor, or Jake the fighter, the boxer.”
