ICC announces ODI team of the year, Indian players lose out big time
Team India barely featured in the one-day format throughout 2024 and this led to none of their players making it to ICC men’s ODI team of the year. The team which was announced by the global body on Friday, consists of 4 players from Sri Lanka, 3 players each from Pakistan and Afghanistan and a player from West Indies as well.
The Indian team played only 3 ODIs in 2024 and ended up losing 2 of them with the remaining one ending in a tie.
Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka was named skipper of the ICC team as well for his stupendous batting through the year. Asalanka scored a total of 605 runs at an average of 50.2, including a century and 4 half-centuries.
Sri Lanka won 12 out of the 18 ODIs they played during the year while Afghanistan won 8 out of their 14 matches and Paskistan won 7 out of their 9 ODI encounters.
