Amherst man admits to stealing or intentionally converting over $580k from government program
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- An Amherst man who previously worked for Jericho Road pleaded guilty after stealing or intentionally converting over $580,000 from the company last year, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday.
Dejan Karlovic, 29, worked as a Senior Grants Accountant at Jericho Road, which operates the Jericho Road Community Health Center, and had access to several company credit cards and other financial accounts.
Officials said Karlovic submitted fake invoices to Jericho Road from a company called "D and D" between March and June 26. The invoices were allegedly related to moving and relocation, a service Jericho Road provides to its clients. Karlovic then used a company credit card to pay the invoices, according to officials. He stole or intentionally converted a total of $584,884.99 from Jericho Road.
Karlovic pleaded guilty to theft of funds related to a government program. He faces a fine of $250,000 and a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted.
Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
