Tottenham injury news vs Leicester: Pape Matar Sarr and Djed Spence doubtful
Ange Postecoglou has been providing a Tottenham Hotspur injury update ahead of Sunday’s match against Leicester City.
Tottenham desperately need a win against Leicester
Postecoglou took his Tottenham squad to Germany to take on Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday evening, with his patched-up side managing to edge past the Bundesliga outfit with a 3-2 victory.
There was a welcome boost earlier this week when Cristian Romero returned to Spurs training at Hotspur Way following his muscular injury suffered in the loss against Chelsea in December.
The Tottenham head coach was also without Pape Matar Sarr after the midfielder missed the Hoffenheim match through injury as a result of a knock he sustained in the 3-2 defeat against Everton on Sunday.
Djed Spence, Antonin Kinsky and Sergio Reguilon all missed the Europa League tie due to not being registered for the competition and will be expected to come back into the match day squad.
Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and Timo Werner were among those who also were absent due to their ongoing injury issues.
What is the Tottenham injury news vs Leicester City
Postecoglou told the Evening Standard: “Djed’s still sore from the weekend, he got a knock so he’s a doubt. Pape’s still a doubt, Reggy should be OK.
Asked if Romero could be involved on Sunday, Postecoglou replied: “No, no. We got him back training.
“Him and Micky [van de Ven] are the two back next out of the long-term ones but the’ve still got a bit to do in terms of getting training into them with the team.
“The other day was a low-tempo session so it was good to get him [Romero] involved.
“Micky’s not too far away. These players will come back, they’re not deceased, they’re just injured. It’s not all doom and gloom.”
