9th Annual Eating and Dreaming in Tandem Winter Potluck
It's time for our ninth annual opportunity to dream about a fantastic summer tandem trip while eating in tandem with your fellow club members.
This year's presentation will be by ETC members Paul Dutky and Dianne Iverson, who will leave you dreaming for a trip to the Netherlands. Theirs was a self-guided 6-week tour that did hub-and-spoke riding from two home-exchange stays, plus three stretches of on the road touring. But, this being the Netherlands, little of that was on roads, but rather on the extensive network of bike trails that make this the safest country in the world for biking.
Paul and Dianne will give some tips on getting a battery in Europe for your e-tandem, riding trains, finding places to stay and getting around using the Node Map app. They’ll share rides through the countryside, photos of the engineering marvel of the Delta Works, and sometimes surprising videos of Dutch bike infrastructure.
Plan to arrive for this great event about noon, with nibbling and sipping to start when a few nibble-able and sip-able items appear, then full lunch starting about 12:30. 'Round about 1:30 we'll start our vicarious vacationing, with dessert to follow the presentation. Please bring a shareable quantity of your favorite comestible and either surprise us, or let us know ahead of time (in comments below) in hopes we don't have 4 versions of the same thing. Hot chocolate, coffee and tea, both of the latter in caffeinated and decaf versions, will be provided. You are also welcome to bring along a beverage of your choice.
