That 'Den of Thieves 2' Car Chase Scene Had a Secret Weapon
Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. are back with Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which finds the duo in all kinds of high-stakes, action-filled scenarios.
The current box office hit culminates with a huge shoot-out car chase that occurs after a big heist at the World Diamond Center, which did not come together easily according to the movie's cinematographer Terry Stacey.
Speaking with Variety, Stacey explained how they pulled off filming the crazy chase and what tools were needed to get the shots, including a pair of Porsche Taycan Turbos made to look like go-karts. He said once Porsche came on board to provide the electric vehicles for the movie, they were written into the script.

Stacey told the publication the Turbos were the perfect getaway car because they were incredibly fast but also small. He and his crew used multiple vehicles and configurations to nail the scene.
"It all began with pre-viz work that included storyboarding, scouting roads, and having a pod car," he said. "Two of the Porsches were changed to look like go-karts, and we had a stunt driver on the roof."
He went on to explain how the roof driver let Butler and Jackson work their magic inside the car.
"The steering wheel, dashboard, and even accelerator were located on the roof so the stunt driver could count the action. O'Shea and Gerard were in the car with the camera operator in the back," he said.
Not having to worry about driving has to make the acting a tiny bit easier for a super-intense car chase.
