Billy Ray Cyrus Slammed on Social Media for Baffling Inaugural Ball Performance - Watch the Video

Billy Ray Cyrus left people confused and in shock while watching his performance at Donald Trump‘s Liberty Inaugural Ball.

The Grammy-winning country singer was one of the performers at the event on Monday night (January 20) in Washington, D.C.

Billy Ray started his set by standing on stage while the music video for “Old Town Road” played on a screen behind him. He played guitar and sang along to the music video, but the pre-recorded track is what we heard instead.

“If you encourage me I’ll keep going,” Billy Ray told the crowd after the video ended. “They told me to kill as much time as possible so… Does anybody know the words of achy breaky heart?”

Billy Ray‘s guitar could not be heard when he tried strumming it. He called out on stage, “Hey is my guitar still on? I think they cut me off. Is my guitar on? I don’t hear my guitar anymore… Check? Is anybody awake? I don’t hear it, do y’all hear this? Is anyone back there? Can somebody turn my guitar back on, we’re gonna sing a little bit more.”

He then performed “Achy Breaky Heart” as an a capella song, but mainly wandered around the stage before ending his performance and saying good night.

X’s Grok notes that the performance was “widely criticized for technical issues and his vocal quality, leading to significant discussion on social media.”

One person tweeted, “Billy Ray Cyrus bizarre and technical difficulty filled performance at Donald Trump’s Inauguration is the perfect representation of how inept and sad the next 4 years will be.”

Someone else wrote, “Trump needs to pardon Billy Ray Cyrus for that performance because it was a crime.”
