Budget 2025: India to shift focus to railways from road transport in infrastructure push, say sources

Union Budget: India plans to increase its railway modernisation budget to 2.9-3 trillion rupees in 2025/26 to expand tracks and add 400 high-speed trains. Meanwhile, the road network budget will see a marginal increase of 3%-4%. The road transport ministry aims to raise 1 trillion rupees annually through toll collection rights and asset monetisation.
