Falcons interview Matt Eberflus for defensive coordinator job
Former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus continues to draw interest around the NFL as a defensive coach. Saturday, he interviewed with the Falcons for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
The Falcons fired coordinator Jimmy Lake after one season and have been interviewing potential replacements the past two weeks.
Eberflus met with the Bengals last week in the same capacity.
Eberflus spent four years as the Colts' coordinator before the Bears hired him as head coach three years ago. He became the first Bears coach ever fired in the middle of a season when the team dismissed him the morning after a Thanksgiving loss to the Lions.
The Bears have cast a wide net in trying to replace Eberflus, interviewing 14 candidates with two more coaches on the docket to be interviewed Saturday. League rules dictate the Bears can't meet in person with coaches employed by NFL teams until Monday.
