Pillar Rock Bicentenary Meet

A meet to commemorate the first ascent of Pillar Rock by John Atkinson in 1826.

The meet will be held at Brackenclose over the weekend of the 11th/12th July 2026 which is the closest w/e to the first ascent date of the 9th July. The plan for the day will be to climb the Old West Route (the original route of ascent) and anything else that the weather allows. In the evening it is hoped to organize a communal meal. There may be an exhibition of photos and a guest speaker. It may be that we invite guests from other clubs – this would have to be discussed with the Committee.
