Sports briefs: Amborn pours in 31 points for San Domenico
Carly Amborn scored 18 of her 31 points in the third quarter before sitting out the fourth in the San Domenico girls basketball team’s 61-18 victory against Urban on Friday night.
Amahji Cook added 14 points and Tosia Konczak scored nine for the Panthers (8-10, 3-1 BCL West).
Boys basketball
Ephraim Sohn and Dante Stallone combined for 29 points as Archie Williams rolled to an 85-43 win against Encinal on Thursday night. Sohn scored 15 points with four assists and Dante Stallone had 14 points and eight rebounds. The Peregrine Falcons (11-6), who blew open the game in the middle two quarters, got balanced scoring with eight players accounting for seven or more points.
Boys soccer
Gui Guioto scored late in the first half to tie the game for San Domenico (2-4-1, 0-3-0 BCL West) but University managed to score another goal in the second half to see out a 2-1 victory on Friday.
Girls soccer
Tam (7-3-5) conceded a goal in the first half of a 1-0 loss against Sonoma Academy on Friday night.
- San Domenico (2-4-2, 0-3-1 BCL West) fell 4-0 against University on Friday.
Women’s basketball
Alaiyah San Juan scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds as Dominican University fell 72-61 against Westmont on Thursday night.
Mikayla Amoroso added 13 points for the Penguins (11-9, 5-4 PacWest), who saw their five-game win streak snapped. Linzie Taylor scored eight points but pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds against Westmont (9-5, 5-3).
Men’s basketball
DM Sanders led four players in double-digit scoring for Dominican with 13 points as the Penguins fell 80-58 against Westmont on Thursday.
Jorge Ochoa and Sargent Jeffery both scored 12 points for the Penguins (8-9, 3-6) and Darius Best scored 10 against Westmont (6-10, 4-4).
