Fab 4

The fab 4 is a nickname given to cricketers Virat Kohli (India), Steve Smith (Australia), Joe Root (England) and Kane Williamson (New Zealand). This name was given to the players as they are widely regarded as the 4 best players of the current era. All of them have been playing for their respective national sides for many years. However, the question that arises here is that when did the 4 of them last feature in domestic cricket.

Virat Kohli

1. Virat Kohli – November 2012

The India star batter last featured in domestic cricket back in November 2012 and played for his state side Delhi. The match was against Uttar Pradesh and it was played in Ghaziabad. UP beat Delhi by 6 wickets and interestingly, Kohli got dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in both the innings.

Joe Root

2. Joe Root – May 2024

The England star batter has been fairly active in county cricket. One of the main reasons for this is because of the fact that Root hasn’t gotten many opportunities in IPL and other T20 leagues. Root’s last appearance in domestic cricket came for Yorkshire in May 2024 against Sussex.

Steve Smith

3. Steve Smith – October 2024

The Australia batter featured in the Sheffield Shield ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series. Smith played for the New South Wales in their clash against Victoria in Melbourne. The batter was unfortunately only able to score a total of 3 runs in the entire match.

Kane Williamson

4. Kane Williamson – November 2024

After missing the 3-match Test series against India due to injury in mid-2024, Williamson made a return to the Plunket Shield and featured for Northern Districts in their clash against Auckland. The former New Zealand skipper played a decent knock of 60 in the first inning as his side cruised to victory by 179 runs.
