Timothée Chalamet Says His Lime Bike Stunt Cost Him £65
Eco warrior Timothée Chalamet claims he incurred a fine for parking a Lime bike directly on the red carpet of A Complete Unknown’s London premiere. In an interview on the French show Quotidien, the actor explained why exactly he had biked to the premiere in the first place and what it ended up costing him.
“There was a traffic jam and I actually wasn’t allowed to park there,” Chalamet explained en Français (the translation comes from a Call Me by Your Name fan account on X). “I got a £65 fine and actually it was horrible because it was an advert for them.”
Is he saying it’s horrible because it accidentally became an ad for the company and they still fined him or because it was always supposed to be an ad and he still got fined? Something is being lost in translation here, but that’s not the most interesting part. The Guardian did a little digging and found that Lime’s penalty structure only runs from £2 to £20, with no penalties for first-time offenses. “Representatives for Lambeth council, whose jurisdiction the venue falls under, have confirmed to the Guardian that they did not issue any such fine,” The Guardian also reported.
So what is the truth here? Would a celebrity make up a story for TV? We’ll never know. The one true winner here is Lime, which has eked out two rounds of press coverage about this whole incident. And you know what? Fine. As long as we’re here, let’s watch the video of Chalamet riding it onto the carpet again because it really is delightful.
