Natalie Joy Refuses to ‘Give Oxygen’ to Rumors
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy are a podcasting couple I couldn’t be less invested in, and yet I find myself endlessly intrigued with the details of their relationship. Viall is a post-Bachelorette bro who made a career positioning himself as the world’s most faithful wife guy, while Joy is a surgical technologist 18 years his junior. They often appear together on Viall’s popular podcast, The Viall Files, on which they parrot gender truisms, divulge details about their sex life, and give lonely singles advice on how to be just like them. In a new interview with Bustle, however, the couple — now parents to a 1-year-old daughter named River — dished on just about everything except the one thing we actually wanted to know: What’s the deal with those cheating rumors?
Last May, redditors began speculating that Joy had an affair around the time the couple got engaged in 2023. While the rumors haven’t been substantiated by any means, Viall and Joy have yet to deny them outright.
“Having River, you realize what’s important in life: protecting our family. That’s why we don’t give oxygen to any rumors about us,” Joy said when asked again about the Reddit rumors. “Then it’s going to be a headline. Then River’s going to see it one day. She’s like, Wait. What happened? And it’s, like — none of it matters. We know what the truth is. We know what happens in our lives.”
Other than that one time Viall said he’s “unaware of things that people say” on Reddit, this is probably the closest we’re going to get to an acknowledgment. I totally understand the desire for privacy, especially when a kid’s involved, but it’s really hard not to read into this stuff when you’re dealing with a man who wrote a self-help book titled Don’t Text Your Ex Happy Birthday. Kudos to Viall, though. I, too, would love to be so mentally free that I’m “unaware of things that people say.”
