Man United want to beat Tottenham in the race to Patrick Dorgu
The race for Patrick Dorgu, who has reportedly been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time, is now intensifying, with Manchester United now thought to be exploring a move for the player.
Will Tottenham sign a left-back this month?
With Destiny Udogie out with a hamstring injury, Sergio Reguilon is currently the only natural left-back at Ange Postecoglou‘s disposal at the moment, although Djed Spence has excelled in that position this season.
The Australian insisted last week that Tottenham will not sign any left-back for the sake of it and would only make a move if they can sign a player of the right profile.
One man who is on Spurs’ radar is Patrick Dorgu, with several outlets over the last few months claiming that the Lilywhites have considered making an offer for the Dane.
Man Utd and Tottenham both like Patrick Dorgu
It has now been revealed by CaughtOffside that Man Utd’s scouts have monitored Dorgu closely over the past few weeks as the club contemplate a move for him.
The report claims that the Red Devils are joined in the race by Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool, who are continuing to follow the Lecce man’s situation, while the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are also in the picture.
Ruben Amorim is thought to be keen on adding a left-back to his squad and the 20-year-old has allegedly been identified as a good fit for the Portuguese coach’s system.
The outlet asserts that Lecce want €50m (£42m) to part ways with the versatile Denmark international.
Destiny Udogie needs competition for his place
Whether it is Dorgu or someone else, there is no doubt that Spurs desperately need another left-back. Udogie has not hit his expected heights this season and the Italian needs competition for his place in the side.
Signing another left-back will allow Postecoglou to use Spence in rotation with Porro at right-back, thus potentially freeing up Archie Gray to be used as a midfield option.
