High-surf advisory extended

0

The Barbados Meteorological Services extended the island’s high-surf advisory for breaking wave action until tomorrow morning.

Choppy sea conditions continue to affect the western coastlines of Barbados stretching from Sherman’s, St Lucy to Blackwoods Screw Dock in Bridgetown, St Michael.

While there was marginal improvement in see conditions, northerly swells will persist into Friday morning, the Met Office said.

Swells emanating from a midlatitude system in the North Atlantic ares still propagating southward across the region. The heights of these northerly swells are forecast to vary overnight, generating choppy conditions along the western coasts of Barbados. Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate in open water with northerly swells ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 metres (5 to 8 ft) during this swell event.

Another marine event is expected this weekend from Sunday 19th January 2025 along the east coast of the island. (PR/SAT)
