'Over 90k salaried wrongly claimed Rs 1000 crore tax benefits'

Around 90,000 salaried employees have wrongly claimed tax deductions worth ₹1,070 crore until December 31, 2024, according to the Income Tax Department. The deductions were found under sections such as 80C, 80D, and 80E. The department is reaching out to common employers to address these false claims and encourages taxpayers to file accurate returns.
