Christian Yelich was emotional talking about Bob Uecker after the Brewers' final postseason game in 2024

When the Milwaukee Brewers lost Game 3 of their wild-card series with the Mets by way of a four-run ninth inning, it was an understandably emotional scene in that clubhouse. The Brewers were on the brink of advancing to the NLDS only to collapse in front of their home fans. That’s already tough.

But the season-ending loss meant so much more than simply saying goodbye to teammates. And that loss really hit Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich when he spoke one-on-one with legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker. Yelich knew that Uecker had been battling cancer for the better part of a year, and his postgame words hit even harder when we learned on Thursday that Uecker had died at the age of 90.

Yelich said when asked about the tearful reaction:

“For me, it was talking to (Uecker). That’s kind of a tough one. All the other stuff — it is what it is. It’s a tough way for your season to end. But talking to (Uecker) one-on-one was tough.”

Uecker spent 54 years as a Brewers broadcaster, and his presence will be missed by the entire baseball community.
