First place Saratoga skates past Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa in 7-1 win
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NEWS10) -- The first place Saratoga boys hockey team entered play on Wednesday looking to bounce back after a loss their last time out. The Blue Streaks played host to Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa, who entered with a 6-4 overall record and a 3-game winning streak.
Saratoga was able to take care of business on home ice, winning the contest 7-1. With the victory, the Blue Streaks improve their record to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the division to remain in first place.
After both goalies made early saves in a back-and-forth first period, Saratoga opened the scoring with less than 5 minutes to play in the frame when Brandon Lucia found the back of the net. The Blue Streaks would take that 1-0 lead into the second period when they took control of the game. After Liam Chartrand scored to make it a 2-0 game, captain Daniel Klochany scored on a back hand effort just one minute later to make it a 3-goal game. Lucia would add his second score of the night before the period was over to give Saratoga a 4-0 lead entering the break. Another 3-goal period in the third secured the 7-1 victory.
