The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Surf forecast issued Thursday 16 January 2025: Seven day outlook for Sydney
TG’s assessment of the weather today and yesterday>>>
It was so hot yesterday arvo he wanted the air con on.
Today he says the air outside feels like an open fridge door with a fan behind it, with an occasional bucket of water being thrown in your face.
I’ve told him a million times he’s prone to exaggeration.
But today’s conditions are not making the surf look good. It’s messy, windy and messy, and the swell is currently from dead South, so the larger stuff outside is going straight past on up the coast.
The surf outlook for the coming days will be pretty dependent on weather conditions. The Southerly/ South Easterly winds are expected to keep blowing over most of the weekend and into Monday. Then maybe some improvement Tuesday Wednesday, before another Southerly comes up on Thursday.
The Bureau has Large Surf warnings up for Friday and Saturday.
Friday: could see around say 2 ish metres of very messy waves at places open to the South, increasing as the wave period increases and the wind picks up on the coast – BoM says up to 60kph – some smaller swell might start to get into protected corners
Saturday: could be say around the 2-3 metre range South East, with wind
Sunday: ditto East South East with wind, easing back a bit later
Monday: should ease back into the 1-2 metre range East South East
Tuesday: dittoish
Wednesday: around 1-1+ metres East South East
Thursday: starting to come up again with the wind behind it at places open to dead South.
Stay safe. Maybe check out non-beach activities for fun.
