This Surprising New Shinola Watch Is a Tribute to the Detroit Lions
Are you ready for some football? Detroit-based Shinola sure is! The luxury design brand just launched a limited edition collection that includes a new iteration of the Runwell 41mm watch with a Periwinkle Blue dial and pairs with this with a limited edition football in the same shade of azure.
While there is no official tie-in, the Motor City’s own Lions, who play in blue and silver uniforms, currently sit atop the NFL’s NFC north division at 15-2. As they say, a nod is as good as a wink.

Big bold Arabic numerals painted around the blue dial offer excellent contrast, making time telling much easier than reading a box score. The sub-dial at 6 o’clock uses remote second hand sweep allowing fans to clock the game. Plus, the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova so you can still read it after the Friday night lights go out.
The Runwell features a 41mm polished stainless steel case that is water resistant to 50 meters and accentuated with a classic, screw-down, pumpkin-style crown. The piece is quite slim, clocking in at a scant 10.1mm in thickness, so it won’t get tackled by a shirt cuff.
Inside, the Runwell is powered by the Argonite 1069 high-accuracy quartz movement. The watch is protected by a double curved sapphire crystal in the front and a signed, steel plate case-back with a laser-etched serial number in the rear.

The Shinola comes on a black premium leather strap between the wire-style lugs. The band is cut and sewn in America as is the football, which is accented in with light grey rawhide lacing.
For those who want to rep Detroit’s grit and fortitude with pride, Shinola’s limited Periwinkle collection Runwell 41 is now available at shinola.com, along with their Woodward, Canfield, and Somerset stores for $625. The football is also ready for a toss for $225.
