Austin hosts emergency preparedness event ahead of next week's potential wintry weather
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- On Wednesday, Austin's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) hosted an emergency preparedness pop-up event at the John Gillum Branch Library.
This comes after the KXAN First Warning Weather Team expects the Austin area to see a drop in temperatures leading to a potential freeze early next week.
HSEM said the pop-up was designed for city departments and other emergency partners to educate the public on what to do during a severe weather event.
The pop-up events are part of a monthly series hosted by HSEM in each city council district throughout the year on the third Wednesday of each month, according to the city.
If you missed out on participating in the pop-up, you can learn more about what to do during a severe weather event by visiting HSEM's preparedness hub.
