Arctic Air & Winter Storm Threat Early Next Week for Acadiana

0

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - There is now some model consensus with the threat of ice and a little snow next Tuesday.

We see the Arctic air for sure, and the weather pattern does support precipitation. We rarely post a winter weather threat this far out, but both the GFS and the European are showing a possible winter storm.

As of now, it will probably be in the form of freezing rain and sleet, which would be the worst case scenario for the roads. Snow is possible, too, but the better chance of that will north of Acadiana.

Temperatures about 5,000 feet above the ground will be above freezing, so that's why the snow threat will be lower. Mid 20s look likely for overnight lows early next week.
