One dead after two-car crash in Pawling
PAWLING, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash on Old Quaker Hill Road in Pawling. The two-car collision occurred on Monday at about 7:05 p.m near Meeting House Road.
Deputies responded to Old Quaker Hill Rd. following a report of a serious crash, police said. When they arrived, one of the drivers, Lisa M. Gutierrez, 52, of Pawling reportedly had life-threatening injuries.
Gutierrez was transported to Danbury Hospital where she died on Tuesday, according to authorities. The driver of the other car was reportedly uninjured.
A preliminary investigation into the crash has determined that Gutierrez, who was driving a BMW, was traveling southbound on Old Quaker Hill Road when her car crossed over the center pavement markings and struck a Ford pickup truck traveling northbound, deputies said. Currently, police said they believe Gutierrez may have been driving under the influence of alcohol, leading to the collision.
The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit. More information may be released as it becomes available.
