Iranian President dismisses allegations of assassination plot against Trump

0

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, has stated that his country did not have any plans to assassinate Donald Trump during the previous U.S. presidential election campaign.

NBC News reported on Wednesday, January 14, that Pezeshkian dismissed these claims. He emphasized that behind this plot was Israel, and that Iran would never engage in such an act.

According to NBC News, when the reporter asked Pezeshkian about statements from U.S. officials claiming that the Iranian government had plans to assassinate Trump, Pezeshkian responded, “This is just another one of those plots that Israel and other countries have designed to promote Iranophobia. Iran has never attempted and does not intend to assassinate anyone. At least, as far as I know.”

When Lester Holt, the NBC News anchor and reporter, asked again, “Are you saying there has never been an Iranian plan to kill Donald Trump?” Pezeshkian replied, “Absolutely not.”

Pezeshkian emphasized, “We have never taken action to do such a thing, and we never will.”

The Iranian president further stressed that his country is open to dialogue with the Trump administration. Despite America not actively seeking a solution, Tehran remains ready for negotiations.

Pezeshkian also mentioned that while the U.S. has not shown a genuine interest in resolving the issues, Iran is still willing to engage in discussions.

This statement comes after the U.S. Department of Justice recently charged an Iranian man with conspiring to hire a hitman to assassinate Trump.

It is believed that Donald Trump, the incoming U.S. president, will implement more hardline policies against Iran in the coming years. Earlier, U.S. media reported that Trump’s team had discussed targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities if necessary.
