Vinod Kambli’s video will bring tears to your eyes, India star needed 2 people’s help to walk, WATCH
Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is a pale reflection of his glorious heydays as he is struggling to even walk two steps without support these days. Last month a video of frail-looking Kambli meeting his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar had gone viral on social media. Now a few days back, another video of Kambli at Mumbai Cricket Association’s event to celebrate Wankhede Stadium’s 50th anniversary has gone viral.
The video will definitely bring tears to you eyes as Kambli struggled to walk and needed two people’s help as he was being felicitated by the MCA. Kambli is seen bowing down to former India captain Sunil Gavaskar to touch his feet and take blessings.

Kambli, recently discharged from a local hospital after being in the ICU due to health complications on December 21, attended the event despite still being in recovery. He walked slowly towards the stage, appearing visibly frail, and showed respect to Gavaskar by touching his feet.
Speaking at the event, Kambli reminisced about his playing days at Wankhede. “I remember smashing my first double hundred here against England and going on to score many more centuries in my career,” he said.
Kambli also shared advice for aspiring cricketers, stating, “If anyone wants to play for India like me or Sachin (Tendulkar), my advice is to keep working hard and never stop. That’s what Sachin and I did since our childhood.”
In an interview with Matrubhoomi, Kambli stated why he decided to come for the MCA function in such a frail health condition. “Isn’t it the 50th anniversary of Wankhede? Isn’t this the land where I grew up playing cricket? How could I stay away when such an important event is taking place here?” Kambli questioned.
Asked about his health, Kambli said, “The energy that Mumbai gives is enough to cure any illness. If you immerse yourself in the celebrations here, nothing feels like a problem.”
MCA president Naik emphasized the importance of the milestone. “Wankhede Stadium’s 50th anniversary is a special occasion for us. Today marks the beginning of a grand celebration. Our goal is to educate the next generation about Mumbai’s cricketing history and the contributions of players—both men and women—who represented Mumbai. We hope to inspire the youth to carry forward this legacy.”
As part of the week-long festivities, two cricket matches were held, featuring teams from MCA, SJAM, Consul Generals, and IAS Officers. The celebrations will also include appearances by cricketing legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Dilip Vengsarkar. Other prominent figures, including former Indian captains Ravi Shastri and Ajinkya Rahane, current T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, and former women’s team captain Diana Edulji, are expected to join.
The main event will pay tribute to Mumbai’s legendary cricketers from both domestic and international cricket, celebrating the rich legacy of the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
