My Favorite Action Movie Is Streaming On Amazon Prime This Month

Directed by Doug Liman, this film is a thrilling hybrid of Groundhog Day and Saving Private Ryan, but with a high-tech twist. Tom Cruise plays Major William Cage, who is thrown into a time loop where he must relive the same battle over and over. But unlike most action heroes, Cage is super reluctant to fight and pretty cowardly. This adds a super funny dimension to the film, as Cruise has to adapt into being a warrior.

What makes Edge of Tomorrow so great is how effortlessly enjoyable the action is. The special effects are top-notch, and it holds its own among the best action films, but it never feels overbearingly action-oriented like so many films do in this genre. It strikes a perfect balance achieving that pure entertainment vibe, without feeling hollow — there is a lot going on beneath the roller coaster ride of the plot/action.

Emily Blunt is also amazing in this movie. Her performance as the fierce, battle-hardened soldier Rita Vrataski is unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a film that’s not just action-packed but also smart, Edge of Tomorrow is an absolute must-watch. It’s one of the best action films of the 2010s and a perfect blend of sci-fi, drama, and comedy. It’s just so shocking that this film doesn’t get more accolades.
