Anthony Joshua lands new role as he joins forces with Andy Murray in ‘opportunity I had to take’

AJ joins an ownership team that also consists of Murray’s former coach Dani Vallverdu and businessman Arran Yentob, and he is delighted to be involved.
Joshua said: “The growth of padel as an international sport has been really impressive and interesting to watch so getting the chance to join Andy and the rest of the ownership team was an opportunity I had to take.
“I am looking forward to supporting the team as they defend their Hexagon Cup title in Madrid later this month and as they continue to grow and develop.”
The Hexagon Cup pits eight padel teams against each other, and some have very famous owners.
Football legends Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero head up Kru padel, while Hollywood actress Eva Longoria is part of team Eleven Eleven.
Rafa Nadal’s academy also has a team in the competition, and Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has his own team, called RL9.
Murray, 37, has helped to expand the sport and last week footballers Tammy Abraham and Callum Wilson were announced as investors in the Murray-backed Game4Padel, the biggest UK operator of padel courts.

The two-time Wimbledon champion is aiming to win the Hexagon Cup again and is happy to have Joshua on board.
Murray said: “Having Anthony join Arran, Dani, and I on the leadership team is a huge win for us and will provide us with momentum as we seek to defend our title in Madrid just weeks from now.”
